Dressing for Your Seasonal Colors
When you choose an outfit how do you determine what looks best on you?
Seasonal Color Analysis has become all the rage on social media apps like TikTok and Instagram with many creators developing filters that allow you to test your color compatibility from home. When considering which colors look best on YOU, it’s important to consider the features in your own color pallet that make you unique.
These can include skin color (and undertones), eye color, and hair color.
All 3 categories can then be additionally broken down into hue (warm, cool, neutral, or olive), value (light or dark), and chroma (muted and soft or bright and clear) to determine your seasonal category (Arruda 2022).
The seasons are divided by warm and cool hues with Spring and Autumn colors best suiting warm hues and Summer and Winter colors best suiting cool hues.
Winter- for cool undertones with high contrasting features.
Spring- for warm undertones with little contrast between features.
Summer- for cool undertones with little contrast between features.
Autumn- for warm undertones with high contrasting features.
These 4 seasons are then additionally broken down into three even more specific categories that allow you to find your perfect color matches.
